Who We Are
We are the hope and aspirations from our ancestors from 7
generations ago. We are their whispered prayers. We support birth,
understanding that how we enter the world through our mothers
affects our descendants seven generations ahead.
Andrea Bukiewicz
Hi! I’m Andrea Bukiewicz. I am a Certified Professional
Midwife and a Licensed midwife in the state of Wisconsin. My
midwifery journey began in 2007, assisting women in both hospital
and home. Here I saw our culture's disillusion towards birth and the
harm it can cause. This experience catapulted my midwifery
studies, beginning with my midwifery degree from National College of
Midwifery in Taos, New Mexico. I have had the honor of participating
in over 900 births, the bulk of them in the homes of my clients. I
believe in the power of women mentoring women. This belief not only
held true during my 4 year traditional midwifery apprenticeship, but
it also reflects in the care that I give.
In 2013 my studies sent me to Bali, Indonesia. Here I spent a summer
interning at
Bumi Sehat Birth Center
and apprenticed under awarded humanitarian, Ibu Robin Lim. This
experience helped me mature into the midwife you will know today. A
strong woman who is here to protect our rite of passage and help
women birth in such a way that honors its process, all while
providing evidence based care and informed consent.
My own introduction to the healing arts and feminine teaching looked
very similar to my midwifery apprenticeships, my grandmother sharing
her eucalyptus remedies and family
stories. Her love began the preparation for what was to come and
helped cultivate my spirit and trade. Outside of midwifery and
keeper of women's mysteries, I am an athlete, ballerina, herbalist,
writer, sex educator, devout animist, student, and avid traveler
with my two children and our Goldendoodle, Loki.

Melissa Kane
I am Melissa Kane, and I use she/they pronouns. I have been working
as a birth worker since 2012. After a positive experience with a
doula during the birth of my third child, I pursued doula training.
After a few years of working in our community, I realized I truly
loved my work and I wanted to shift my focus and role to become a
primary care provider. I observed many people giving birth in
environments where providers distrusted them and the birthing
process, leading to traumatic outcomes for parents and babies in
disproportionate numbers. I do not want to be a part of that system.
I want to support people in finding their voice, strength, and power
during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Becoming a CPM. allows me to
participate in birth with education and safety while honoring the
natural process that has been bringing souls into the world for
centuries. I am passionate about offering evidence-based and
culturally competent care to all my clients.
In addition, I am a Master Reiki Practitioner. When I'm not
supporting clients, I can usually be found at home on our small farm
in Kenosha County, where we have a few animals, gardens, and a tiny
orchard. As a farmer and chef, I continuously learn and grow in the
farm-to-table community. I am also an avid swimmer in both the pool
and open water. I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, camping, and
meditating on the front porch.
